About Milestone Construction
Milestone Construction, Inc., Syracuse, Indiana was formed by John O. Gradle, President, and John J. Kolton, Secretary/Treasurer, in 1989. Pursuing residential and commercial design/build projects, Milestone Construction is capable of taking a project from concept, through design and construction to final occupancy by the Owner.
John O. Gradle graduated from Purdue University in 1975 with honors in Civil Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Indiana. Since graduating from Purdue, Mr. Gradle has gained extensive experience in the areas of civil and architectural design and general contracting. He is a current member of Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honorary, is a past president and board member of the Kosciusko County Builders Association, past president and current board member of the Wawasee School System Building Trades Program, and a current member of the “Project Lead the Way” (PLTW) advisory board, a national program involved with promoting the field of engineering to high school students.
John J. Kolton graduated in 1975 from Bradley University with a degree in Construction. Mr. Kolton received a Masters in Business Administration from DePaul University in 1978. Mr. Kolton has expertise in estimating and cost control in general construction and design/build projects and is proficient in the preparation of conceptual budgets up through the preparation of the final construction loan budget. Mr. Kolton is a past board member of the Kosciusko County Builders Association.
In 1999, Lester Hamell became a junior partner with Milestone. Les Hamell’s responsibilities include supervision and field coordination of both residential and commercial projects. Mr. Hamell has worked in the construction industry for over 35 years as a carpenter and as a previous owner of his own construction company. He is highly skilled as a carpenter and craftsman. Because of his knowledge and experience he is extremely successful in the day to day coordination and field project management of any construction project.
